Beinn Ghablach from Rhue
Beinn Ghablach is the mountain across Loch Broom opposite my house.
There is a small stand of trees at the bottom of the field and the path down to the shore goes through them. It’s my morning walk with the dogs and I set off down to the loch and along to the lighthouse at the same time each day. Every time it is different, sometimes clear, sometimes misty, sometimes wind driven rain. Doing the same walk each day through the year means that I begin to notice small details that alter subtly through the seasons, changing colours, the state of the tide, movement of flotsam along the beach. This is an autumnal painting, from a beautiful still day of high pressure with a crispness to the air, leaves are still on the trees and some late flowers below them, the northern corries of Beinn Ghablach are sharp across the loch.
